With the nominations for the 2020 now closed, Oxfordshire Cricket over the next three weeks will be shining a light on all of the nominations that we have received, in order to help recognise them for all of their fantastic work over these unprecedented times.
This week we are shining a light on Oxford CC
In this different season Oxford CC decided to focus on youth and participation.
We reduced our membership and match fees and opened our COVID regulated nets as much as we could.
Once youth training was able to start we focussed on this – Youth membership settled at 125. Highlights being:
establishment of a Girls section.
several of our U13’s playing for our Men’s 4 th XI.
90% of our youth gaining match experience.
We ran a 5 week Summer Academy programme attended by 123 junior cricketers – 60 were new to our Club and 12 new to cricket. The
success of this has grown our base and taken cricket to new families.
For Senior players we fielded 4 Men’s teams and 1 women’s team – giving 100 cricketers the opportunity to play league cricket.
This season has brought our 3 sections closer together. They have worked together to promote cricket – new volunteers have come
forward and giving us new ideas for the future:
Improved structure for youth training evenings.
Extended youth development programme during the season and the idea to continue it through the winter.
Improved Committee structure.
