The Oxfordshire Women’s Indoor League is now an established part of our calendar. 2023/34 saw entries from Banbury, Deddington, East & West Hendred, Freeland, Horspath, Moreton, Oxenford, Oxford and Thame which reflected the growing and positive health of Women & Girl’s cricket in the county.
Moreton Mavericks retained this year’s competition, extending their recent success in the competition having now won the competition four years in a row.
Cricket Development Manager, Ed Wilson said: ‘Women & Girls cricket continues to grow in the county and the recent success of the women’s indoor league is further proof of that. Well done to everyone that entered and to Moreton for being overall winners. Moreton Maverick’s Coach, Tim Haworth said: If there’s a better antidote to “winter blues”, than playing indoor league cricket, then someone had better let these Girls know, as their current unbeaten run of matches, now stretches back to pre-Covid times ! “With a host of other activities all competing for our player’s time on a Saturday afternoon, the 6 a side, short format games certainly helped us to get a team out every week and fielding a total of 17 different players during the competition illustrates that ”
