Tuesday 17 August witnessed the much delayed – both through Covid & weather – 2020 U19 Semi-Final between Horspath CC and Hook Norton CC at Horspath Recreation Ground.
Horspath won the toss and elected to bat. Both openers, Alfie Turner 60 off 38 balls and Tejas Anand 44 off 31 balls set the tone for the innings which finished on 171 for 5 off a reduced 16 overs given the shortened August daylight hours. The pick of Hook Norton’s bowlers was Fraser Lovat with 2 for 21.
In reply, Hook Norton lost wickets at regular intervals with Max Harris top scoring with 29 and the innings falling 42 short of their target at 129 all out in the final over. Two wickets apiece for Josh Cummings, Josh Richardson, Joe Gibbs and Chris Batten.
Thank you to the umpires, John Finch and Ian Royle and the scorers, Catherine Turner and Mark Ingham.
Congratulations to Horspath CC who now host Aston Rowant CC in the delayed 2020 U19 Final for the HoneyBee Trophy on Sunday 5th September 1.30pm at Horspath CC.
Good luck to both teams!
