Hook Norton win thriller in last over
An exciting game on a gloriously sunny evening went down to the final over. Shipton batted first and got off to a flying start with Abi Norgrove and Ben Gibbons putting on 61 for the first wicket. After Gibbons was bowled by Joe Coggins, Dee Jarvis came in and continued the scoring pace until the second wicket fell for 97 in the 14th over. The scoring pace dropped as wickets continued to fall, with Shipton finishing on 133-6 (Ben Gibbons top scored with 40). Hook Norton’s reply got off to a difficult start, stumbling to 24-3 in the 4th over, but steady batting kept them in the hunt with a recovery until the fifth wicket fell at 62. Hook Norton were keeping up with the required run rate, but the wickets kept falling and with the score at 94-8 after 14 overs Shipton were looking favourites. A ninth wicket partnership of 36 between Will Hutchinson and Joe Coggins was ended by a run out with the score at 130 in the 19th over. Last Hook Norton batter Pickle Harris came out and blocked the last three balls of the over, leaving Hutchinson on strike at the start of the final over, and off the first ball he managed to strike the four required to win the game for Hook Norton. Man of the match was Will Hutchinson with bowling figures of 4-0-22-2 and 25 not out with the bat.
