Oxfordshire Girls Under-18s 196-8 (40 ovs; Lottie Oxton 70*, Isobel Kirby 32, Leah Cutler 3-19)
Dorset Girls Under-18s 85 (31.1 ovs; Isabelle Riley 3-25)
Oxfordshire won by 111 runs
Oxfordshire Girls Under-18s recorded a 111-run win over their Dorset counterparts at a sun-soaked Charlbury Cricket Club on Wednesday afternoon. Batting first, Oxfordshire looked to be in some trouble at 44 for 3 when Abigale Norgrove (28) was caught at square-leg in the 9th over. A 50-run partnership between Isobel Kirby (32) and Isabelle Riley (15) steadied the ship, before both departed in successive overs. This brought Lottie Oxton to the crease, and she immediately took full toll of a wilting attack, first adding 74 runs for the 6th wicket in partnership with Victoria Harris (21), before blasting her way past her own half-century from just 34 balls faced, and finishing undefeated on 70 from 56 deliveries.
Chasing 197 for victory, Dorset lost Freya Cutler to Kirby in the first over. Mollie Joyce and Leah Cutler set about rebuilding the innings, before lavish swing bowling from Riley accounted for Joyce in the 11th over, and Leah Cutler was run out by excellent work from Harris at mid-wicket in the next. The Dorset middle-order found runs hard to come by, as Riley (3-25), Chloe Westbury (2-8) and Oxton (2-10) picked up wickets at regular intervals. The visitors’ innings was brought to a premature end when Emma Trowbridge, on debut, span her first delivery past the bat of Ceri Harris, as Oxfordshire ran out winners by 111 runs.
After three matches, Oxfordshire now head Group 7 of the ECB Girls Under-18 One-Day Competition, two points clear of Berkshire who have a game in hand.
