Berkshire Girls Under-15s 97 (24.4 ovs; Poppy Tulloch 46, Zara Wyatt 4-19, Ellie Simpson 3-31)
Oxfordshire Girls Under-15s 100-2 (20.4 ovs; Sana Kassey 35*)
Oxfordshire won by 8 wickets
Charlbury continued to prove a happy hunting ground for the Oxfordshire Girls sides, as the Under-15s followed up last week’s victory for the Under-18s by beating Berkshire amid the showers on Tuesday afternoon.
Electing to bat first, Berkshire soon found themselves in deep trouble at 9 for 3 inside 5 overs, as Zara Wyatt and Ellie Simpson made excellent use of seamer-friendly conditions under a leaden sky. A half-hour break for rain offered Berkshire the opportunity to regroup – but it was Oxfordshire who grabbed the initiative once again on the resumption, as the visitors declined to 29 for 6. Unperturbed by the loss of her top-order colleagues, Poppy Tulloch opted to rebuild the innings through all-out attack, and blasted 8 boundaries on her way to 46 from just 36 balls faced before she perished looking to deflect Sana Kassey into the legside in order to keep the strike. Emma Trowbridge induced a false shot from Molly Bulteel a couple of overs later, and captain Kassey wasted no time in bringing back Wyatt (4 for 19) and Simpson (3 for 31) to finish off the tail with some 16 overs left unused.
In reply, Oxfordshire lost Philippa Dellar early, caught in the covers, before Lucy Johnson and Sana Kassey added 38 runs for the second wicket through a mixture of watchful defence and judicious running. Johnson fell to the Alyx Clarke’s unorthodox brand of left-arm spin; but Kassey (35*) and Aimee Diab (18*) appeared mostly untroubled as they added 57 for the third wicket in just 9 overs, and saw Oxfordshire over the line with almost half their allocation of overs remaining.
