The past couple of weeks has seen both our U13 County Champions, Tiddington CC and U15 Champions, Didcot CC participate in the Vitality Club T20 National Competition Second Rounds.
Unfortunately neither of the results went our way, however, our teams pushed two very good teams hard. Overall, a great learning experience for all the players involved which I’m sure will stand them in good stead in the future.
In the ECB U15 Vitality Club T20, London & East Round 2 Didcot CC were drawn against Great Brickhill CC, the Buckinghamshire county champions. On a scorching date at Didcot won the toss and elected to bat. The highlights from Didcot’s innings were an excellent 53ret off 36 balls, including 10 fours for Jacob Townsend and Luke Hayes with 37 from 36 balls. The pick of Brickhill’s bowling was Danny Chapman taking 3 for 12 off his 4 overs. Didcot reached 119 for 6 off their 20 overs.
In reply, Brickhill had 2 good early partnerships to reach 92-2 with Sai Boorghu 50ret and Raif Rahman 28. Further contributions from Aadi Sharma 19 and Danny Chapman 18no saw Brickhill get over the line in the 14th over for the loss of 2 wickets. 1 wicket each for Freddie Deans and Iestyn Keymer; Luke Hayes bowling 3 excellent overs for only 15 runs.
In the ECB U13 Vitality Club T20, London & East Round 2 Tiddington CC were drawn against Peppard Stoke Row CC, the Berkshire county champions. A young under-strength Tiddington side lost the toss and were put in to bat. Excellent bowling from Peppard restricted Tiddington to 61 all out in the final over. The pick of Peppard’s bowlers were Rudi Derbyshire 2-9; James Bee 2-5 and James Mennie 2-5.
In reply, Peppard chased down the total in the 11th over for the loss of 1 wicket with Ethan Day 23no. Despite this, some excellent bowling figures from Tiddington with Sam Edwards 4 overs for 8 runs and Ciaran Lewis 1 for 20 from his 3 overs.
Wishing Great Brickhill CC and Peppard Stoke Row CC good luck in their Regional Semi-Finals at the end of the month.
