Oxfordshire are NCCA Championship Western Division One Winners!
Oxfordshire secured a seven-wicket over Dorset today to secure them NCCA Championship Western Division One. They will now go on to play a four-day final match against Suffolk who is the winner of the Eastern Division at Tring from the 5th-8th of September.
On day 1 Dorset’s captain, Luke Webb won the toss elected to bat first. Harry Fisher (50) made the biggest contribution for the hosts. Jacob Gordon (18) and Webb (16) also contributed but Dorset was bowled out for 129, Gareth Andrew taking 4-29 from 20 overs.
Oxfordshire secured a 116-lead as Marcus Campopiano (90) plus 65 from Callum Russell and 41 from Harrison Smith gave the hosts a deficit.
Alex Eckland (87), Webb (45) and Simon Woodruff (35) contributed for Dorset but Max Mannering (5-58) impressed with the ball as Oxon restricted Dorset to a 113-run lead, having been dismissed for 219.
Oxfordshire threatened to make light work of the target, racing to 48-0. Gordon (2-22) then dismissed Smith (31) and Campopiano (18), while Josh Digby (1-47) removed Tom Haynes (0) to leave the visitors on 55-3. George Tait’s 44 from 45 balls secured the win for Oxfordshire.
