Oxfordshire lost to Wales NC yesterday (Sunday 20th of June) at Banbury CC in a rain-affected 33 over a side match by 2 wickets in the last over.
After a few hours of rain delays, Wales NC won the toss and elected to bowl first in a reduced 33 over a side match. Oxfordshire got off to a good start with Tom Cosford and Tom Haynes putting on 61 for the first wicket which saw Cosford dismissed for 39. James Coles then hit 15 before he was dismissed. Haynes and Harrison Ward then put on a 76 run partnership before Ward was dismissed for 47. Haynes then followed quickly after as he made 55 to leave Oxon 173-4. Oxon then finished well as Tom Price (12) and Matt Warner (10) helped Oxon set Wales NC 203 to win off 33 overs.
In response, Wales started well with the rate but they soon lost Steve Reingold for 15 to leave the visitors 27-1 off 3 overs as he was bowled by Tom Price. Soon after, Joe Butcher got the other opener Bevan out for 12 after a superb catch by Ollie Price at backward point to leave the visitors 27-2. As a partnership was beginning to be formed Price then took a further two wickets to leave the visitors 55-4. Brown and Herring then put on a 66 run partnership to help steady their innings before Herring was stumped by Callum Russell off the bowling of captain Olly Clarke for 38 leaving them 121-5. After a steady 34 run partnership, Coles then picked up two quick wickets to leave the visitors 159-7. Price then returned to the attack and bowled Norman for 9 leaving the score 173-8. Oxfordshire will now play Buckinghamshire in their next group match of the NCCA One Day Trophy on Sunday 27th of June at Gerrards Cross CC.
