#GroundsWeek returns for another year from 28 February – 6 March, this time with a focus on recruitment and encouraging more people to enter grounds management.
#GroundsWeek is an interactive campaign and is built on the involvement of the groundscare community – with support from the community and our sponsors, which are listed below, we will be putting our sector in the spotlight once again and celebrating the impact of groundscare on sport and green spaces.
Last year’s event saw thousands come together to celebrate the work of grounds teams and received support from a wide range of sporting institutions, such as Wembley stadium, the England national football teams, Manchester City F.C., Twickenham stadium, Leicester Tigers and many more. Our campaign also received widespread media coverage from BBC Sport to Yahoo Sport amongst others.
From 28 Feb – 06 March, we’re asking you to take part in the celebrations again and help us to celebrate the work of grounds staff.
What to expect from the GMA
Throughout the week, we’ll be posting and sharing content throughout the week related to this year’s theme– recruitment into the sector.
We’ll be releasing a news story based on our latest research, but we’ll also be sharing other content including:
- A special #GroundsWeek webinar where our host and the BBC’s, Mark Clemmit will be sitting down with one of the biggest names in the industry, Head of Courts and Horticulture at AELTC, Neil Stubley to discuss his grounds management journey and heading up the grounds team at Wimbledon. - Two Learning LIVE seminars from SALTEX that focus on recruitment and workforce development
- Educational material for school-age children that can be shared to help increase awareness of the career possibilities in the groundscare sector
- Stories from members of the groundscare community that represent the varied roles and experiences that can be found in our sector
How to get involved in #GroundsWeek
This year, we’re asking you to share details on the rewarding aspects of your role in grounds management and why others should consider it. As well as engaging with the GMA’s content throughout #GroundsWeek, you could share:
- A photo of you and / or your colleagues at work
- A photo of your ground (either current or past work you’re really proud of)
- A short video of you or your grounds colleagues talking about how you got into the industry / help out in your spare time
- Using line markers to write ‘#GroundsWeek’ on the pitch or training facilities for photos
- Getting a player or member of coaching staff to try their hand at preparing the pitch for a short video
