Dear All
I am starting to make plans for cricket competitions this summer so I attach the entry form for secondary competitions for 2022 I appreciate that it may be much too early for some schools to know what cricket they will be doing and the deadline for returns in March reflects that. I will be back in touch after half term with schools who have not responded to see where they are with this. There would be no affiliation fee requested from schools who paid for the aborted 2020 season as this will again be carried forward but schools who entered the cup competitions last summer will be sent an affiliation invoice if they enter for 2022. Affiliation (£20) can be paid by cheque or Bacs . As our finances are quite low I may not be able to carry over affiliations for a further season.
The viability and format of leagues will be assessed after consultation based on the number of entries. The two tier format will be used in both under 14 and under 15 leagues if there are enough entries. Placements will be primarily based on previous performances in peer group and is designed to encourage schools to play games against teams of a similar strength. Schools who can only commit to three or four games in a particular age group are still welcome to enter the leagues. Schools who cannot commit to this minimum..please do not enter league but enter the knock out competition instead. In under 12 and under 13 there will be regionalised pools if numbers permit.
The under 15 Vase will be continued with schools for the under 15 Cup and under 15 Vase chosen largely on the basis the team’s performance in the cups and leagues (state schools) in previous age groups but with allowance for schools with no previous cup entries. The under 15 county Cup winners proceed to a regionalised and then national knockout phase to be completed this season. If there are not enough entries for the leagues I will consider the option of a vase competition in the lower age groups.
There are a number of girls only competitions for schools this summer and these are run by OCB and you will be contacted by them direct about these. We are also looking at scoring and streaming initiatives alongside the county board.
Please return the competition entry form and affiliation by March 10th. Do please contact me if you wish to clarify or discuss any of this.
Best wishes
Peter Tubb
