Following last Friday’s government announcement which gave the green light for recreational cricket to return from the 11th of July, the ECB has today (Thursday 9th July) released guidelines on how cricket matches with adjustments to respect hygiene and social distancing can go ahead.
The full guidance for the Return of Recreational Cricket is attached at the end of this article for you to read alongside the ECB Facilities Guidance on getting your clubhouse and ground ready for play. Also attached is the latest guidance from the Grounds Management Association relating to the maintenance of cricket playing surfaces.
The guidelines on the Return of Recreational Cricket covers a number of areas of the game, including:-
- Pre-match adaptations regarding transport and symptom checking.
- In-game adaptations applying to social distancing measures, hygiene, match officials and the use of equipment.
- Post-game adaptations, including the potential use of club facilities.
- Advice for coaches specific to individual sessions and junior cricket.
