Oxfordshire Cricket can confirm that as of Tuesday 4th of August cricket clubs in Oxfordshire have received over £250,000 of funding to support them through the coronavirus pandemic.
Since the beginning of April a total of 41clubs have been successful in receiving funding through the government’s Small Business Grant Scheme, the Sport England Emergency Community Fund, the ECB Return to Cricket Grant and the ECB Interest Free Loan, with funding currently standing at £251,089.
Clubs have received a range of differing amounts between £1000-£17000. In the last few days a number of clubs have submitted funding applications, with our expectation that the £251,000 figure is set to increase even further.
Liam Richards Chairman of East and West Hendred CC had the following to say:
“The guidance and support with our grant application was invaluable. The time taken by Oxfordshire Cricket to help us put our proposal together was greatly appreciated. The £3000 grant we received is such a boost and enables us to remain stable in these difficult times.”
Andrew Hodder-Williams Treasurer at Cumnor Cricket CC had the following to say:
“The loan we received from the ECB Emergency Loan Scheme, supported by Oxfordshire Cricket – along with a grant from the local Council – provided us with security through short term revenue shortfalls, and then confidence to invest in Covid Secure measures and an adjusted youth programme. The detailed guidance we received on how to operate safely this year was invaluable and gave reassurance to players and their families so we could maximise participation. We are grateful to Oxfordshire Cricket and the ECB for supporting us in this way.”
