“Having the opportunity to work with so many talented players is something I am very grateful for. The dedication the players show towards representing Oxfordshire cricket is outstanding and it was a privilege to play a small part in their development journey. I am also grateful to the parents for their patience and their flexibility when receiving communications. Coordinating a talent pool as large as Oxfordshire’s requires efficient links between parents, players and coaches and all parties have been phenomenal. An enormous thanks must go to the coaches, they afford the programme to run and they go above and beyond to provide the best training environments possible.
My next thank you goes towards the performance staff team, Matthew Barnes, Sam Arthurs and Alex Westbury all of whom are all incredible at what they do. They work tirelessly to ensure that Oxfordshire cricket runs to the highest of standards. They have challenged me to become a better practitioner and a better communicator. Lastly, to Chris Clements and the board who were kind enough to afford me the opportunity to represent Italy and Oxfordshire cricket during my tenure. I have learnt so many lessons from this wonderful game and I look forward to seeing Oxfordshire pathway players saturate international, first class and recreational cricket in the future.
Performance Director, Matthew Barnes said:
“We are disappointed to announce that Marcus will be departing his role with Oxfordshire Cricket, but fully understand his ambition to pivot back into the field of Strength and Conditioning on a permanent basis.
In his time with Oxfordshire Cricket, Marcus has played an influential role in supporting the long-term development of our individuals and teams and his expertise within Strength & Conditioning has enabled us to provide a more holistic talent development programme for our pathway players. Marcus has contributed significantly to our Emerging Players programme by optimising the physical development and performance of our high-potential players. Beyond supporting our individuals and teams, Marcus has provided education to our coaches to help integrate greater physical provision into our pathway programme, alongside guidance for our parents and guardians’ to enable them to support their child’s physical development.
On behalf of everyone at Oxfordshire Cricket, I take the opportunity to thank Marcus for his contribution during his tenure and to wish him all the very best with the next step in his career journey.
