Saturday saw Shipton Under Wychwood’s first team win their first trophy for 11 years beating Brackley CC by 7 wickets at the magnificent Wormsley Cricket Ground.
Brackley won the toss and elected to bat.
Brackley struggled to get going losing wickets regularly finishing 89 all out in 19.2 overs with captain Mikey Lowe 23 and Henry Whitehouse 19.
An excellent all round bowling and fielding display by Shipton with Dee Jarvis 3-1 off 1.2 overs; Calum Taylor 3-9 off 4 overs including a maiden and Shaun Miller 1-12 off 4 overs.
In reply, Brackley weren’t able to take the early wickets required and Shipton reached their target for the loss of 3 wickets in the 18th over; Arun White 27no; Tim Senior 21 and Freddie Norridge 20no. Mikey Lowe the pick of Brackley’s bowlers with 2-18 off his 4 overs.
The trophy was presented to Shipton’s captain Rob Panting by Chris Clements, and thanks given to James Bartrip and Ray Manning for officiating and the club scorers Sue Hayes and Alex Blithe.
